Polish Foods Come to America at the International Cuisine Pavilion

CHICAGO, IL – Whether you are adventurous or not, you may soon be able to choose everything from kangaroo meat to “Kixi” pies at your favorite restaurant. International exhibitors at this year’s International Cuisine Pavilion at the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show® will be bringing to America exotic foods looking to make them a hit with restaurateurs and thereby consumers. The Show, held from May 20-23 in Chicago, is a global marketplace where products from all over the world gather under one roof.

“Ethnic and fusion cuisines, as well as new exotic flavors and meats are a trend that has been brewing for some time and is gaining momentum among restaurants and chefs in the U.S., making this an exciting time for the culinary arts,” said National Restaurant Association President and Chief Executive Officer Steven C. Anderson. “Over the last few decades, international travel and immigrant populations have introduced Americans to new products and dishes that they now expect to see on restaurant menus.

Confirmed exhibitors for the 2006 International Cuisine Pavilion include companies from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico and New Zealand. Over 200 international exhibitors from 40+ countries will be part of the Show.

A sampling of products to be exhibited in the International Cuisine Pavilion include: Belgian food products from Belgium, Kangaroo Meat from Australia, considered leaner and healthier than most other meats; All-Natural Malaysian Curry Paste from Indonesia, made with ginger, lemongrass, chilies, and toasted spices free of artificial flavorings, colors and preservatives; Authentic Mexican salsa from Mexico, manufactured in a dehydrated format; “Kixi” pies from Greece, phyllo cups made using a traditional Greek recipe; Crêpes Concept from France, crêpes making concept combining hygiene, ergonomics, speed and convenience.

The International Cuisine Pavilion, located on Level 1 in the North Hall, is a special area of the Show floor highlighting international companies, as well as domestic import companies, showcasing authentic traditional ethnic and global flavors. The Show is on both the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Buyer Program and the U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) list of sponsored trade shows.

The Pavilion was created through the support of many foreign consulates, commercial trade commissions, ethnic business organizations, related trade associations and global media representing entities from Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America.

California-based International Trade Information, Inc., (ITI) created and launched the International Cuisine Pavilion with the National Restaurant Association. ITI is an international trade show company specializing in U.S. domestic ethnic audiences, international exhibitors and visitor marketing. It is one of few trade show marketing companies focusing on this audience.
