Polish American Student Interns for Illinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka

(Chicago, IL) – Illinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka welcomed Polish American student John Trybus to her office as an intern in the communications department this summer.

Trybus, who has interned at Topinka’s Office for three years, worked extensively with Illinois’ ethnic and specialty media. He wrote press releases and articles, pitched story ideas to reporters, organized press conferences, took photographs, and implemented local and national media strategies for office events and programs.

“I am very pleased to have John work at the Treasurer’s Office,” Topinka said. “Through his communication skills and media relations know-how, John has ensured that the public is informed about our office and the services we offer.”

Said Trybus: “The Treasurer’s Office is a wonderful place filled with dynamic people, programs and ideas. It has been my honor and privilege to be able to contribute to this worthwhile office and to serve the people of Illinois.”

Trybus is currently a junior at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is studying political science and communications. He graduated in 2004 from Oak Park and River Forest High School.
