CHICAGO ARTIST MIROSLAW ROGALA FEATURED IN CURRENT MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBIT AND AN ITVP CYBERART INTERVIEW ON NATIONAL TELEVISION IN POLAND

9/3/2006 - CHICAGO ARTIST MIROSLAW ROGALA FEATURED IN CURRENT MUSEUM OF
CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBIT AND AN ITVP CYBERART INTERVIEW ON NATIONAL
TELEVISION IN POLAND

Miroslaw Rogala, a native of Poland and internationally acclaimed
Interactive Media Artist with exhibitions in over 42 countries to
date, is featured in the selected artists exhibiting from the
permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in
Chicago in the current MCA exhibit, Drawn into the World: Drawings
from the MCA Collection, through October 15. The Rogala artwork on
exhibit is entitled, Trees Are Leaving#2 (Fire) and was acquired for
the permanent collection in 1993. The work consists of chalk on paper
and features a videotape displayed on a pioneering LCD monitor. The
title of this work refers to section eight of Miroslaw Rogala's
video-theater work Nature Is Leaving Us, presented in 1989 at the
Goodman Theatre. Another prominent Polish artist and sculptor,
Magdalena Abakanowicz, is also represented.

"A dominant theme in the artist's work is the construction of a type
of universal
communication, and his art generally combines Video, sound, music,
poetry, performance, dance, and other media in large, collaborative
presentations", cites Lynne Warren, MCA Curator, in the exhibit
descriptive. She quotes Rogala's interpretation: The artist has
written, "In the Video, falling tree dissolve to blocks of wood, Which
dissolve to wooden figure models, implying the progress of continuous
consumption. Is being in harmony with wood more modern than being in
harmony with a tree? The life essence (soul) of a human or an animal
is respected and mourned when it is lost. Who cries for a tree?"

Miroslaw Rogala and his artistic gestures and achievements will be the focus of
an hour-long interview and demonstration to be aired on the television
network, ITVP.
The Projekt iTVP: "MEDIOKRACJA program, Meet the Artist: Miroslaw
Rogala, will be televised in Poland on Wednesday, September 13, 2006,
at 11:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. CDT Chicago time) on the Polish national
network, and subsequently featured on the network's national and
international distribution. The one hour documentary is webcast from
the artist's Chicago studio, and is highlighted by a videocast
interview with Profs. Ryszard Kluszczynski and Andrzej Strumillo in
the Warsaw, Poland network studio, and Miroslaw Rogala in the Rogala
Studio, Chicago, Illinois. The program is produced and directed by
Pawel Kaminski.
