Illinois State Treasurer celebrates holidays with Polish Women's Civic Club

2/12/2006 - (Chicago)-Illinois State Treasurer representative Barbara Chalko presented holiday greetings on behalf of the Treasurer to Polish Women's Civic Club (PWCC) president Camille Kopielski and 200 PWCC guests at the Club's annual Christmas luncheon held recently at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. The PWCC has been in existence for 82 years. Its primary purpose is philanthropy; each year PWCC grants at least $12,000 to college students of Polish ancestry. Among the guests were distinguished representatives of other Polish American organizations including Virginia Sikora, president, Polish Women's Alliance, Teresa Abick, vice president, Polish National Alliance, and Wallace Ozog, Polish Roman Catholic Union president. Monsignor Kenneth Velo of the Archdiocese of Chicago delivered the invocation and well-known businesswoman Marilyn Miglin inducted 14 new Club members and offered inspirational remarks.
