Illinois Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka offers free citizenship assistance during final workshop

10/18/2006 - Illinois Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka
offers free citizenship assistance during final workshop

(Norridge, IL) – A free citizenship workshop sponsored by Illinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka will be held at Mid America Bank, 6401 North Harlem Ave., Chicago on Friday, Oct. 27 from 10a.m. to 8p.m.

Within the past several years, hundreds of people pursuing their American dream have made appointments to obtain free, personal assistance during these traveling sessions. This is the last workshop Topinka will be sponsoring.

“U.S. citizens have benefits that non citizens don’t have,” Topinka said. “Many people may not know where to start or who to call, and that’s the void we have hoped to fill. Helping people become American citizens has been very gratifying.”

All interested persons are welcome, however, reservations are recommended. To receive a list of documentation that needs to be brought to the workshop, please call Bart Kaleta at the Treasurer’s office at 312-814-3081.
