Disabled Voters
Provided Parking
For the November 7, 2006 General Election, voters with disabilities will be provided with parking in front of their polling places.
In cooperation with the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation, the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners is arranging to provide two marked parking spaces for the disabled in front of every polling place. There are 2,605 Chicago precincts located in more than 1,900 buildings.
Chicago Election Chairman Langdon D. Neal said that reserved parking signs will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the November 7 Election. Crews from the Department of Streets and Sanitation will post signs prior to election day.
Chairman Neal praised the Department of Streets and Sanitation, and Commissioner Michael Picardi, for the department’s assistance in the disability outreach program.
