Welcome! Witamy!
PolOrg is an information resource center principally for
and about non-profit organizations which either
- provide services to persons of Polish heritage outside of
Poland ("Polonia"),
- or which promote or support Polish language, art or culture
outside of Poland,
- or which to a significant extent are composed of, or are
supported by, individuals of Polish heritage outside of Poland.
In the United States and Canada, the "Polonia" community is
composed of over 10 million people, including Poles resident in the United States
and Canada (temporarily or permanently), and Americans whose direct or indirect ancestral ties to
Poland may reach back one or more generations, and who may or may not be conversant in the
Polish language. PolOrg aims to support and strengthen the community of interest which is
shared by all members and supporters of Polonia.
By means of this website, PolOrg aims to
- solicit, collect and publish information regarding existing
Polonia organizations and their services;
- facilitate communications by Polonia organizations with
their current and future members, supporters and other interested parties, encouraging
community participation and support; and
- solicit, collect and publish the views of Polonia community
members on issues of civic concern or interest.
In the coming months, PolOrg proposes to provide additional
informational services for the development of Polonia organizations and their leaders.
Sponsors
PolOrg is supported by the Polish American Leadership
Initiative (PALI), a not-for-profit Illinois corporation (tax exemption pending) whose
mission is to enhance the participation of the Polish American community in the affairs of
the greater community, to maximize its representation and influence at every level. PALI
intends to be a resource to existing organizations and a catalyst for the empowerment of
the Polish American community through initiatives promoting leadership, representation,
community service and cultural heritage.
PolOrg welcomes and encourages donations from
organizations and individuals who wish to support the maintenance and development of
PolOrg's web site and services.
Values
We believe that the Polish-American community represents a
significant untapped potential for the civic and community affairs of the United
States and Canada,
particularly in Greater Chicago and other metropolitan centers WHERE members of Polonia
reside. We believe that improved access of individuals and organizations in our community
to relevant information can help guide their actions benefiting our community.
PolOrg embraces and wishes to promote the following
leadership values: integrity, competence, community servanthood (a non-commercial interest
in the promotion of the best interests of the community), accountability, inclusiveness,
and respect for individuals of different faiths, cultures and convictions.
Editorial and Legal Policies
PolOrg is dedicated to the service of the Polonia community
in an apolitical, non-partisan and non-discriminatory manner. PolOrg exists to serve all
Polonia organizations and individuals, though we reserve the right to restrict user
activities which we deem unlawful or harmful. Please see our Legal Policies for a
fuller discussion of our policies on copyright, acceptable use, links and

The PolOrg website has been designed to be a
"community maintained" asset; the information presented at this website is
